Workshops to Engage, Inspire and Educate

-- What gives our life meaning?
-- What is community and our role in it?
-- How do we connect with our love for
      life and renew our energy?

These are just a few of the questions we explore
in workshops and retreats designed to inspire
and educate each of us in becoming an activist for
a just society and sustainable world.

Sacred Activism
Utilizing our inner resources we will discover the inspiration and empowerment needed to face the challenges of today’s world.
In a time when many of us are called to activism, how can we draw upon our love and compassion to direct and sustain our efforts?  How do we discover our inner resources and summon the courage that is needed in today’s world?  How can we reach for resiliency as we face the barrage of the media and our inbox?
Based on the work of Joanna Macy, this workshop is designed to help transform fear and despair into inspiration and a sense of empowerment. We will explore gratitude, anger, grief, and hope and move into a deeper understanding of our own unique gifts.  We will, also, look at what divides us and rediscover our connectivity with all life.  Grounding our work in our relationship to the Earth, each of us will vision the way to create a more socially just, environmentally sustainable and spiritually fulfilling human presence on our planet.
This workshop is for long time activists as well as those who are exploring how to bring forth the beautiful world our hearts know is possible!

Becoming Vibrant Elders
in Our Emerging World

As we approach the second half of life, the question of "What gives our life meaning?" reemerges as we naturally consider the legacy that we are leaving for future generations.  In this experiential workshop, based on the work of Joanna Macy and Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi, we will uncover the unique gifts that our years of life experience provide along with the opportunity to grapple with what is happening in our world.  We will explore the idea of the Great Turning, recognizing that old systems and institutions are breaking down and that new possibilities are emerging, while honoring our own life experience, interests and passion.
We invite you to take this opportunity to decide how you want to go forth into this time of your life.

Introduction to Active Hope, and
The work of Joanna Macy

This workshop, an Introduction to Active Hope and the Work of Joanna Macy,  has been  inspired by the  87 year old Joanna Macy, author, teacher and visionary.   The workshops offers an excellent overview of her teachings and the experiential exercises that are the foundation of her work.

Active Hope is about finding, and offering, our best responses to the crisis of sustainability unfolding in our world. It offers tools that help us face the mess we’re in and discover how to participate in the collective transition to The Great Turning -- a life-sustaining, thriving and just society.

At the heart of this book is the idea that "active hope" is something we do rather than possess. It is a means for clarifying what it is we hope for and empowering ourselves in its unfolding.

Lynne and her partner, Mordchai, have both trained extensively with Joanna; and have been recommended by her to teach her work.

Activist Retreat

Renew your energy for being an activist for a sustainable and just world with this retreat grounded in “The Work that Reconnects” created by Joanna Macy.  This highly interactive workshop offers teachings and exercises that encourage us to connect with our love for all life as well as the feelings that arise within us when we encounter the destruction and chaos of our world.  Through this work we are empowered to see with new eyes, gain new understandings and be able to go forth with a strong and full heart; along with a renewed commitment to our individual work.  This workshop can be provided in a 3-hour format or extended to one or two days – providing a more in-depth experience.
