We can only be sustainable – and use less, only our share -- if we simplify our lives, so that we feel fulfilled with less, and disengage with rampant consumerism. Do you remember when we, as Americans, were called “citizens?” Now, we’re most frequently referred to as “consumers!”
When we simplify we also tend to slow down, enjoy what we have and connect with our core values. We are likely to build stronger connections with other people – we build “social capital.” In fact by living simply we naturally cultivate a more resilient manner that helps us to more towards a more equitable use of the world’s resources.
