We invite you to a thoughtful and informative 3-hour workshop – Becoming Elders in Our Emerging World -- facilitated by Lynne Iser & Mordechai Liebling, on Sunday, June 22nd.

The question of “What gives our life meaning?” grows increasingly important as we move into the second half of our lives.  This is when we begin to think about the enduring legacy we would like to leave future generations.

Surprisingly eco-philosophers believe that this is a most exciting time to be alive. They call this the time of the Great Turning -- as the old systems and institutions are breaking down.  New possibilities are emerging as we build life-sustaining structures, challenge what is not working, and understand that we are all truly inter-related.   And – we have the added benefit of being a part of the “baby-boomer age wave” containing an unprecedented number of concerned elders with the experience, wisdom, and resources to create future possibilities.

Join us for this interactive workshop as we affirm our life experience, recognize our love for this world and leave with a strong sense of how we can each contribute to a thriving and just world for the future.

Activists Get Tired, Too!

Being an activist is draining prompting my partner Mordechai and I to offer a Retreat for Activists last Sunday.  We shared a beautiful spring afternoon of spiritual nourishment and inspiration despite the gray skies that were overhead.

The retreat was based on "The Work that Reconnects," created by Joanna Macy.  We began with a focus on gratitude and our love for life -- and then moved into an exercise that brought us to an understanding of the pain that we each feel for the world.  This coupling of gratitude and pain is actually empowering because when we recognize that our pain comes from our love our feelings motivate us to do something!

Climate Change is not GOUDA for us!

My friend Susan combined her baking, creativity and her activism as she, along with myself and many others, participated in a demonstration and press conference in front of Sen. Bob Casey’s office in downtown Philadelphia, last Monday.
Our intent was to urge our senator to vote NO on a bill to approve the Keystone XL Pipeline.  Susan was inspired to bake a round loaf of bread, on which she added the various continents of the world.  After baking she placed flags on the bread with notations about the affects of climate changes on differing parts of our planet – our Mother Earth.  Concerning North America she noted the affects of increasing heat waves on croplands; the increasing desertification and resulting famine in Africa; the rising sea level affecting many island nations; and for good measure included a chunk of cheese.  The cheese flag said:  “Climate change is not GOUDA for us!”  Oh yes, she is also quite funny!
