There are of course as many ways as there are individuals. Those ways are reflected in the relationships, the values, the caring and loving we share with others.
They are reflected in our professional lives -- as we perhaps mentor others from our own experience and continue to learn new skills.
As an activist I also hope that we also use our experience, wisdom and resources to speak truth to power, working with others to create a thriving and just world.
All this, and so much more, will be discussed at the upcoming international conference entitled “Gifting The World As We Age” to be held in Seattle beginning August 21st. This conference is cutting edge, featuring many speakers and workshops that explore the many facets of aging that inspire our continued development and growth.
Can you imagine being with a community of folks who are exploring how we flourish and/or are impacted in our physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual lives as we grow older?
This is not about aging as an illness, or a diminishment – but, aging as an opportunity.
I am particularly thrilled to attend this year’s conference as I will be receiving the Sage-ing Pioneer Award for my contribution to the co-founding of the original Spiritual Eldering Institute twenty-five years ago. This conference is a piece of my own legacy. What a gift to myself!
I invite you to:
1. Learn more about this conference, and about Sage-ing International at their website: www.Sage-ing.org
2. Explore the possibilities of becoming an elder through the Conscious Aging Alliance: http://sage-ing.org/the-conscious-aging-alliance
3. Consider the question: “What are you grateful for that comes from your years of life experience?”
Ah, as we age we continue to grow and develop! What a radical idea!
